Salaš Stremen – Traditional Farm in Srem

When you feel like enjoying a peaceful getaway near Belgrade and want to find a place full of quiet and relaxation without traveling far, head to a beautiful traditional farm in the fields of Srem, in Surčin. Located about 1 kilometer from the Sava River, it is a perfect spot for a day trip near Belgrade, especially for nature and animal lovers, recreation, and traditional cuisine. This is a place with a strong heritage, an authentic representation of Srem culture, and one of the first associations when it comes to ethno tourism near Belgrade and traditional farms.

This is the well-known Salaš Stremen, whose special charm comes from its ethno restaurant where you can enjoy homemade food and drinks, especially Srem and game specialties (pork in kajmak sauce, farmhouse-style sauté, poppy seed strudel, pumpkin pie). All of this can be paired with a glass of good wine, and every Friday from 8 PM, the atmosphere becomes even more lively with traditional tamburica music. In addition to the music, the setting is enhanced by a spacious summer garden, where tables and chairs are arranged on grassy areas under the shade of trees, allowing you to enjoy delicious food and drinks outdoors. Near the garden, there is a dedicated area for children’s play, so they are always within sight. Time spent in nature with animals has a positive effect on children, and the playground is equipped with features they love, such as seesaws, swings, carousels, and slides.

A large part of the farm is dedicated to horseback riding and learning this skill. There is a riding school for beginners, where participants learn about the anatomy and psychology of horses, as well as practical aspects of their care and maintenance. The basic training is suitable for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level, and helps overcome initial fear while preparing guests for independent riding and opening the door to the world of equestrian sports. A special program includes pony riding designed for younger visitors. During sunny days, carriage rides along the banks of the Sava River are also organized at the farm.

Additional appeal is brought by various events frequently organized at Salaš Stremen. Visitors can attend the well-known “Srem Jump,” as well as days dedicated to cabbage, dandelion, mushrooms, or the Pumpkin Festival and similar events. The farm is open every day except Monday. It is best to arrive by car due to the distance from the last stop of bus line 610. There is a large parking area in front of the farm, so parking is not an issue here.

In conclusion, there are not many places that offer everything a modern person or family needs for отдых and enjoyment in nature in one location. Salaš Stremen is exactly one of those places that we wholeheartedly recommend. For anyone overwhelmed with daily obligations, it is important to dedicate quality time to family and friends, and Salaš Stremen provides ideal conditions for that.
