Mitrović Lodge is located slightly below the Avala Tower, across from the wooden church. It was built in 1933 on the site of an older building from 1902 and originally served as a mountain lodge for hikers and nature lovers.
The lodge was named after Dr. Dušan Mitrović Špirta, a physician, volunteer from the Salonika Front and one of the key figures in the development of mountaineering and winter sports among Belgrade citizens during the interwar period.

Although the original building was damaged in a fire in 2012, it was later restored while preserving the recognizable combination of stone, wood and mountain atmosphere for which it is known.
