New Belgrade
A city district developed after World War II, New Belgrade was almost destined to grow into one of the most modern and urban parts of the city. It stretches along two rivers, and some of the most attractive day trips in this area can be organized along the Danube or the Sava River. These two major rivers of Belgrade represent one of the strongest assets of New Belgrade in terms of tourism, outdoor activities, recreation and entertainment.
New Belgrade features numerous landscaped parks, cycling paths, river promenades, as well as sports and cultural facilities where you can spend a relaxing day. The Danube and the Sava are also well known for boating and fishing activities. Similar to the Galovica canal, these areas attract many fishing enthusiasts. Whether you choose riversides, parks or Ada Međica, you can easily organize a pleasant outing with friends and family. This is a carefully planned urban area with plenty of space for walking, cycling and relaxing by the rivers.
At the same time, museums, cinemas and galleries enrich the offer, while numerous floating river clubs, restaurants and accommodation options provide endless possibilities for entertainment and relaxation. Cafés and restaurants are everywhere – both indoors and outdoors, in shopping and entertainment centers – making New Belgrade a vibrant extension of the city center. Today, it successfully hosts business, financial, cultural and commercial life within its own area.
Floating clubs (splavs), one of Belgrade’s most recognizable attractions for visitors, are especially numerous along the Sava riverbanks on the New Belgrade side. Combined with cafés and traditional taverns, they create a nightlife scene that sets Belgrade apart from other European cities. While many European cities slow down in the evening, Belgrade stays lively well into the night. Accommodation in New Belgrade is easy to find – from apartments and rooms to hostels and hotels – making it a great choice for a short city break.
During the day, you can enjoy bowling alleys, shooting ranges, paintball fields, billiard halls, shopping centers with entertainment zones, cinemas and numerous shopping opportunities. Don’t miss the large Ušće Park, planned to include multiple zones and even a gondola, as well as Old Fairground and the Chinese Cultural Center, which further enrich the area’s offer.
Various family-friendly events are organized throughout the year, including Family Weekend, New Year and Christmas celebrations, Children’s Week programs, as well as sports tournaments and local festivals.
